It’s true. Esteé Lauder‘s new Invisble Fluid Makeup with IntuiTone™ technology guarantees your true-to-life shade, leaving your skin looking fresh, flawless, and radiant.
For someone who hardly ever wears makeup, I have an extensive collection. Similarly I love high heels but prefer to go barefoot, but this isn’t about shoes. It’s about foundation – the single worst part about wearing makeup, as far as I’m concerned. The reason for that is because I always have one or more of the following problems when shopping for foundation:
- Shade
- Texture
- Coverage
When I read about Esteé Lauder’s new Invisible Fluid Makeup a tiny spark of hope flickered that this would be the solution to my foundation worries.
Constantly at the forefront of innovation, Esteé Lauder introduces IntuiTone® technology, which guarantees your true-to-life shade, leaving your skin looking fresh, flawless, and radiant. The product is very light in texture and provides full coverage. You also only need to use a little bit. The most important thing to remember with this foundation is to shake it thoroughly before application, to ensure it blends perfectly. A very nifty little colour chart printed on acetate is held against your skin just below the jawline, as this is often where the tell-tale line shows the difference in shade between your face and neck. When the colour block ‘disappears’ against your skin, you’ve found your match!
Sibongile, the Esteé Lauder beauty advisor at Edgars in Brooklyn, is without a doubt one of the friendliest beauty consultants I’ve ever met in a retail environment. She gently berated me for not following a proper skin care routine without being judgemental or preachy. Instead she gave me a little makeover, starting with a good prep. She said that if you have beautiful skin, you will have beautiful makeup, which is true. She also told me that Advanced Night Repair – a product that has helped me restore my skin after a bad few months, and Esteé Lauder’s best-selling product – is 30 years old! It truly is an iconic treatment.
If I had not sat through the application of the Invisible Fluid Makeup, I wouldn’t have believed I was wearing any foundation! My skin didn’t feel clogged or weighed down, the coverage was just right, and the colour perfect. Because I have dark circles under and fine lines around my eyes, I loathe using concealer – it masks one problem, but tends to accentuate the other. Sibongile suggested using Idealist Cooling Light Illuminater in light/medium instead. What a difference that made! It actually diffused the lines rather than draw attention to them, and lightened the darkness. (In the picture the shadow from the overhead lights still make the skin under my eyes appear dark, but trust me, the difference was amazing.)
Because I don’t wear makeup very often, Sibongile decided to do a classic, natural look for me. I absolutely loved the end result – aside from the eyeliner and mascara that brought out my eyes, it doesn’t look like I’m wearing makeup at all. She also gave me a chart that explained how to achieve different makeup looks, step-by-step.
I’m really looking forward to trying out more looks, especially now that I have a sample of my precious perfect foundation.
